Christine Bolitho (right), Valme Alvarez and Adam Morrison each pose for a photo, excited to start teaching at Flower Mound. They all came from different backgrounds, but were ready to educate. “I guess you could say it’s my dream to come work in Lewisville because its such a good district,” Bolitho said.

FMHS Band is Taking Over The Magic Kingdom

On Thursday, March 7, the Flower Mound High School Band traveled to none other than the happiest place on Earth, Walt Disney World. While there, the band visited the Disney World parks, Universal Studios, and a recording studio.

Band members were eager to leave for their trip, counting down the hours until they did.

“We are going to Disney on Saturday and Sunday,” sophomore Alex Wells said. “And on Monday we are going to Universal Studios, and that night we are going to a recording studio.”

At the recording studio, the band recorded various songs from Disney movie soundtracks. This was the first time that the band had gone on a trip and recorded music.

“We have gone to Disney World before,” freshman Kyle Cannon said. “We haven’t gone and recorded something like this.”

The band left Flower Mound on Thursday and was confined to buses for almost a day, arriving at Disney World on Friday night.

“I’m most nervous about the super long bus ride, because it’s a long time to be confined with other people,” junior Maggie McGhee said.

Despite the uncomfortable situation, the band was extremely enthusiastic about going to Disney World.

“I’m really looking forward to visiting the park,” senior Cameron Sutherland said. “But movie soundtracks are probably my favorite kind of orchestral music, so I’m looking forward to learning how they are made and recorded.”

The band will stay in Florida until Tuesday night, when they return home after their 21-hour drive.
