Prom

The annual junior and senior prom, a masquerade themed ball entitled “Masked Mystery,” took place on Saturday, April 25, at the Hyatt Regency in DFW. Students anticipated the night for months, and planned accordingly.

“I started looking at dresses probably three months in advance,” junior Madison McGuire said. “The anticipation building up to prom was kind of stressful but exciting. Our group had to decide where to place reservations for dinner and we had to reserve a limo service for the night. I also had to order my date’s boutonnière.”

When the night arrived, students came to the hotel in a variety of suits and dresses. There was a dance floor with a guest DJ, a cotton candy machine, seating, professional photography, and a flip-book photo booth. A crowning ceremony also took place in which seniors Garrett Capps and Rebecca Jacobson were crowned prom king and queen, respectively, for the class of 2015. Junior Matt Fehlis attended the dance and reflected back on experiencing his first prom.

“I think the dance will be more enjoyable as seniors because they’re more interactive with the DJ,” Matt said. “But overall, I had a good time with my friends.”

Seniors are quickly approaching their last days as students. Prom marks one of the last school functions seniors participate in. Senior Rachel Archer reflected back on attending her last prom as a student.

“My senior prom could not have been more perfect,” Rachel said. “My senior year really snuck up on me, and it is nights like prom that make me realize how lucky I am and how many people I will miss as we go off to college. Even though we will all be far apart, I know we’ll always have our senior prom memories to keep us together.”
