National Theatre in Our Schools

Happy first day of National Theatre in Our Schools month! Did you know that the art of theatre allegedly began when a young Greek chorus member named Thespis stepped out of his chorus and delivered the first solo spoken lines? That is why students of the theatre are called “thespians.” Our own International Thespian Society serves the community 1,140 hours every year! Stay tuned throughout next week for more theatrical facts and reminders!

AP Registration

Attention all students in AP classes. Please listen closely: Have you registered for the May AP tests? Regular registration is now through March 1st at 11:59 AM. Be careful when . You can always add tests later but you cannot get refunds for tests once you register for them. Read all instructions on the testing page carefully and only register for the tests you are sure you are going to take. Each test is $95 and you will pay online. The registration information can be found on the FMHS website under resources and then the link is under testing information and AP testing. See Mrs. Zinn in room 1460 if you have any questions about registration or testing.

Senior Exemptions

Attention Seniors, Monday, March 4th, you will be able to pick up your Senior exemption sheet for your nine weeks classes. Only nine week classes can be exempt for the third nine weeks. The exemption sheets must be returned no later than Wednesday, March 6, in order for you to be exempt. Absences will continue to count through March 8. Even though you are exempt, seniors are expected to be present. Please Contact your attendance clerk if you have any further questions.

FMHS Literary Magazine

Calling all writers! Submit your original creative writing for a chance to be included in Flower Mound’s online literary magazine, Et Cetera! See Ms. Lynch in room 1140 for details and a submission form. The deadline to submit is March 22nd.

Prairie View A&M University College Tour

Are you interested in a college tour of Prairie View A&M University? If so, LISD is hosting a trip to the university on Saturday, April 13th. The cost is $60 per student–which includes transportation and meals. For more information and to pick up a permission form–please see Mrs. Easterling in Suite A by Friday, March 1st.

Rosette Auditions

Love to dance and want to be part of an amazing, winning organization? There is a MANDATORY parent tryout meeting for Rosettes Drill Team on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00 pm in the FMHS Cafeteria. If a parent is unable to attend, they must contact Ms. Elmore PRIOR to the meeting at [email protected]. Hope to see you there!

Globally Green

Did you know that… Lizard populations are especially vulnerable to climate change? A recent study projects that if the current decline in lizard populations continues, 40% of all lizard species will be extinct by 2080. This year’s Earth Day theme is “Protect our Species.” Globally Green is celebrating Earth Day and all things GREEN this year with special t-shirts. A table is set up during all lunches this week, or come by room 2370 and sign up. But hurry because the ordering deadline is March 5.

Adera Foundation

The Adera Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids in Africa. A student is collecting soccer cleats for the organization so that kids in Africa can play soccer in good shoes. If you have any old soccer cleats that you no longer use, please donate them in the clear tub out by the FM sign in the cafeteria. Sizes need to be 8-12 for boys and 6-10 for girls.
