The West Zone Fun Run took place at the Forestwood Middle School trails on Sunday, October 29th. More than 1,200 people participated, raising over $28,000.
The Fun Run brought together the community that includes Flower Mound High School, Marcus High School, and their respective feeder schools and was a fun way to spark friendly competition before the Mound Showdown.
Many school organizations also cheered for their fellow classmates and family members from the sidelines.
“We cheered for Connor Green while he ran,” said Pranathi Gunda, a member of the FMHS cross country team. “It was a fun event overall.”
The two first place winners were Carter Reed from Briarhill Middle School and Ariel Esosito from McKamy Middle School.
The schools with the most people participating were Old Settlers Elementary and Liberty Elementary, McKamy Middle School, and FMHS. Old Settlers, Shadow Ridge, and FMHS raised the most money.
“We are very happy with the outcome of the Fun Run,” said Dr. Watson. “Hopefully, we can make this an annual event.”
The money raised from the race will be used to buy iPads for the students at all participating schools.
