For several years, the French Club has collected Angel Tree gifts for a family at Hedrick Elementary.
During the holiday season, the club adopts a family at the elementary school to give presents to and help celebrate.
“This year we have adopted a family with a four-year-old girl, a five-year-old boy, and a seven-year- old boy,” French Club sponsor DeLynn Denton said.
Communities in School, an organization which encourages students to stay in school, provided the club with wish-lists of toys and clothes for the members to buy.
“The students brought their gifts to the club party on December 8,” Denton said.
Members who did not bring gifts brought money for a donation.
“A club officer will purchase additional gifts with the money given,” Denton said. “I take the gifts to Hedrick and a representative passes the gifts on to the family.”
Participating in the charity has been a way for the French Club to give back to the community and raise spirits during the holiday season.
“It will provide a joyful Christmas for these children and their families,” senior president Allison Denton said.
Participating in the charity has been a joy for the French club members.
“It feels amazing being able to give cheer and wonder to children who are less fortunate,” senior secretary Eilish Peterson said. “I would love to see their faces when they find out what Santa has brought them.”
While having a great time, the French club has spread holiday cheer to a family a Hedrick Elementary.
