Fifty-two students from the Flower Mound High School band will be attending all-region on January 24 and 25. In order for them to perform, the students had to go through a tryout process, which consisted of sight reading, performing music that they were given in advance, and scales, which tested their ability.
All-region is the collection of top scoring students from North Texas who come together to show off their talent. There are two bands that the students can be placed in based off of their score. They have the chance to share their passion of music with other fellow band students.
“All-region will be held in Frisco and the students that made it will be chaired in different ensembles and play music that they haven’t seen before,” Associate Band Director Jana Harvey said.
The students will work on their new music all day Thursday and Friday, leading up to a concert for the parents on Friday night.
