V.A.S.E. is now over. So does this mean no more art for the year? It absolutely does not. LISD will be holding its own District High School Art Show on March 30th.
Schools would like to give students who did not get to participate in V.A.S.E. their own opportunity to participate in an art show and express their own creativity in front of a large crowd. That being said, the LISD board got together and decided to create their own art show. There is an art show for elementary and middle schools as well as high schools. However, high school art will be the only art that is judged upon by jurors. Select art pieces will be given awards.
Each teacher from each school is allowed to submit up to ten pieces into the show. From there, the pieces are critiqued by the jurors. Next, the selected pieces that make it past the jurors are submitted into the final round. Certain pieces are then given different awards. During the final step in the competition, the superintendent of LISD picks the best piece in the whole show and it is given a special award. After everything is said and done, it is time for the show. All of the artwork is put on display for everyone to see and enjoy.
Due to different categories of the show, the show will take place on different dates. For high schools there will be a submission section, a judging section, an awarding section and, of course, a viewing section. The final section, which is the actual art ‘show’, will take place on March 30, 2013, during 1:00 PM–5:00 PM at MCL in Old Town Lewisville.
