The first stage of construction on the FMHS 9th grade center, black box theater, arena, indoor practice facility and athletic complex has begun.
Countless hours of planning and designing have gone into this project, and FMHS students and faculty are excited to begin construction. The building phase of this project may be a slightly bumpy road, and the administration advocates cooperation and patience.
The east side of the south parking lot has been fenced off for the staging area for the construction crews; students will still have room to park in the lot near the football field house.
On the north side of the building, a new staff parking lot will be poured. Work on this parking lot should be complete in two to three weeks.
Construction of the indoor practice facility will begin on April 12.
Starting May 1, the construction crew will tear down the baseball field, softball field, and tennis to make room for the 9th grade center.
Construction of the new campus for 9th graders center will begin on June 8.
FMHS administrators encourage students to take caution when parking near construction areas in order to avoid any possible damage to vehicles.
FMHS members anticipate the arrival of the 9th grade campus, as it will eliminate crowding and traffic, and looks forward to many improvements to the school.
