Jags Open Season in Disappointing Fashion

Varsity boys basketball kicked off the 2014-2015 season last night against the Dallas Pinkston Vikings in a non-district game as well as opening their new arena and beginning the Coach Littleton era, as it was his first game as head coach of the Jags.

Supporters came out in huge numbers to see their Jags kick off the year. For  a Monday night game, Jaguar Nation easily filled the new arena.

The game itself featured the Jags battling from behind for the entire night. The Vikings came out hot, quickly going up 9-3 and never looked back. The Jags were out hustled, out rebounded and outplayed for most of the night. The deficit got as big as 20 points at one time.

The Jags were off their game. A usually very good shooting team couldn’t get many shots to fall and even missed their fair share of lay ups. Senior Jake Feickert, arguably the Jaguars’ best scorer, averaging 18.4 points per game last season, had a tough night as he couldn’t find 3-point stroke.

Unfortunately, Flower Mound began life in their beautiful new arena with a loss, falling to Pinkston by a final score of 89-71. Although it wasn’t the result Jaguar fans were hoping for, it does present the new head coach with his first opportunity to get his team headed in the right direction. Look for Littleton to work with his offense to get them on the right page again.

The Jags head to Pasadena on Thursday to compete in the McDonald’s Invitational Tournament through Saturday. They will return home on Tuesday, November 25, to take on Fort Worth Southwest at 2:00 in the new arena.
