Jags Roped by Cowboys

The Flower Mound Jaguars failed to attain a win last Friday when they faced the Coppell Cowboys at Buddy Echols Field. The game ended with a score of 45-3 against the Jaguars.

The only points Flower Mound received were from a 44-yard field goal kicked by senior kicker Cameron Gamble.

Although the Jaguars were in the red zone multiple times, the Cowboy’s defense caused several turnovers.

“We had too many turnovers,” head coach Dane Johnson said. “You cannot turn the ball over and expect to beat a top 10 team in the state.”

The Cowboys also controlled the ball for the majority of the game.

“Coppell has a very strong, seasoned offense this year with 7 returning starters,” Johnson said.  “I believe their size and experience was just too much for us Friday night.”

The Jaguars face off against the Hebron Hawks at home this week.

“This week against Hebron is going to be another tough one,” Johnson said. “Offensively we cannot turn the ball over, and we will have to convert on every third down opportunity. We will need to contain their speed and bottle up their run game.”
