Flower Mound v. Coppell Football

The Flower Mound jaguar football team came back from a very shaky first quarter to win their first ever District 6-6A title, the first in the program’s history.

“ I’m just so proud of the way we played, especially after the first quarter,” said Brain Basil, Flower Mound head coach. “This is such a great group of guys, and i am so proud to be able to lead these guys to a district championship, especially on the road against a tough team like Coppell.”

Both teams managed to survive the third quarter after to nerve racking fumbles. Dantrell Moss lost the ball for the Cowboys midway through the frame, but Flower Mound fumbled back to Coppell on the ensuing drive. The score remained 24-14 in favor of the jaguars heading into the fourth quarter.

The Jaguars scored 17 consecutive second-quarter points, erasing an early 14-0 coppell lead. The Cowboys had a chance to tie it up but the kicker, Caden Davis missed the field goal with 12 remaining seconds left.

“You can’t turn the ball over to Flower Mound,” said Dewitt. “They’re too good of a team.”

Coppell took on Nimitz, while Flower Mound looked to cap a perfect run through the district slate at home against Irving MacArthur.
