Christine Bolitho (right), Valme Alvarez and Adam Morrison each pose for a photo, excited to start teaching at Flower Mound. They all came from different backgrounds, but were ready to educate. “I guess you could say it’s my dream to come work in Lewisville because its such a good district,” Bolitho said.

FMHS’s Unusual Bucket List

Since day one Flower Mound students have been pushing themselves to have goals, dreams, and things they want to accomplish. Teachers, parents, and coaches have always encouraged the normal goals: graduate high school, get a job, and have a family. But what happens to the goals that don’t fit in the box? They go on an unusual bucket list.

Caroline Tremonte and Briana Inman are two juniors with big “out of the box” goals.

The first item on Briana’s list is to adopt a child from Africa; but instead of bringing him back to the US, she wants to stay in Africa and raise him in his hometown.

Additionally, Briana desires to adopt kids in place of having her own.

I just feel like I could impact more lives by adopting a child than having my own biological kids,” Briana said.

Briana read an article on a single woman adopting a boy from Germany, then raising him in his native hometown. She decided she wanted to do the very same thing before she died.

Just the concept of raising a child in their native culture seems so much better than uprooting them completely.”

Briana is not even worried about how she will adapt to life in Africa.

I’m sure it will be fine. It will definitely be something I will have to get used to, but it will be a chapter in my life I will surely never forget,” Briana said.

Although Briana’s life goal is more meaningful than Caroline’s exotic wish, it is very important to both girls to make their lists become a reality before they die.

I want to go to the Galapagos Islands and pet a Galapagos turtle in its natural habitat.” Caroline Tremonte said.

When she was younger, Caroline had always wanted a pet, but she could never find one that wouldn’t aggravate her severe allergies.

I knew I couldn’t have a dog or cat, and fish were too boring, so I guess that’s when I decided that I wanted a turtle someday,” Caroline said. “I will never forget the day I found out about Galapagos turtles. I was in third grade and my friend did a report on them. I guess you could say I’ve wanted to see one ever since then.”

Caroline plans to travel to the Galapagos Islands with her future husband and kids.

Although these girls have big things ahead of them to accomplish in the near future, they also have a normal bucket list with skydiving taking the top spot.
