From the first time in Jag history, the Flower Mound girls golf team claimed a district title. It was a very close tournament but they came out with a win.

The Lady Jaguars overcame a challenging field at the District 6-6A Championship at Oakmont Country Club in Corinth during a two day combining score of 607. Coppell and Hebron at second and third place with scores of 611. “Going into this and after our finish last year, we knew we had a good shot,” said Darren Bailey, the golf coach for Flower Mound High School.

The Cowgirls also are regionals bound by virtue of finishing second trailing juts behind Flower Mound High School by by five strokes after the first round. “We knew we had to go under 305 and shooting 300 yesterday was huge and gave them confidence to come out here today and do it,” said Coppel Coach, Jan Borg. “That was really key. We almost caught Flower Mound, which we didn’t think was possible, but we’re pleased to be second and see what we can do from here on out.”

For the champ Lady Jaguars, Lauren Christl led the way in the fourth with a score of 74-74–148 and was followed by Piper Frisbie in the sixth with a score of 73-78–151, Brooke Dishman in the ninth also had a score of 77-77–154, Kate Dishman in the ninth with a score of 71-83–154, and finally Ally Barth in the 16th with a final score of 80-83–163. “I think our experience definitely helped,” said Bailey. “Having the whole crew back played a big part and going into regionals, I think that’s really going to help, too.”

The Lady Jags will continue to keep this legacy going through the years and keep this winning mentality alive. Go support the Lady Jag golfers any chance you get.
