Power Rangers Movie Review

Released March 24th last week, the new Power Rangers movie was a good time for newcomers to the series but a disappointment for long time fans. Essentially, the new Power Rangers movie focused on five teens gaining super powers in order to defend the Earth. This movie was inspired by the classic TV series which took place in 1993 and featured five teens who knew kung-fu and used it to defend the world. The movie was decent and did a good job modernizing the series, but fans of the original series couldn’t see how it did any justice to the original.

Power Rangers features a cast of newcomers such as Dacre Montgomery and Ludi Lin but also features some seasoned actors such as Bryan Cranston as Zordon and Elizabeth Banks. The actors do a decent job playing their roles and you can tell how much work has gone into the film.

The story follows five troubled teens who are chosen by an ancient force to defend the Earth from an evil entity. The teens are given special suits and control over massive beasts in order to help them. They are assigned different colors to represent such as red, blue, pink, yellow, and black. This is also the first adaptation of the power rangers to feature both a homosexual ranger and an autistic ranger.

There has already been a confirmed sequel to the movie which will feature the green ranger joining the original five. Hopefully in the sequel they will appeal to more of the fans of the original series. As for me I would give the movie a 6/10 due to the fact that it was decent but could have developed the characters more.
