Dribbling, running around, and having fun sounds interesting right? Thats what the girls varsity team loves to do. They enjoy playing the games, and being with each other.

“We go over scouting reports and run through our plays and defenses,” Coach Sherika Nelson said.

All the players were a little nervous before the game.

“Excited, anxious and ready to play,” Coach Nelson said.

Out of all the games that the basketball team has players this year, Coach Nelson has a favorite one, or two.

“Winning the championship game of the Lady Jaguar Tournament and our playoff win over Colleyville Heritage,” Coach Nelson said.

This years freshman team did good. Coach Nelson hope that next years freshmen will be able to improve on some things.

“Being more aggressive and moving the ball more on offense,” Coach Nelson said.

Our schools varsity team this year was amazing. They did really well during all the games and all tried their best.

“We beat Colleyville Heritage in the first round of the playoffs by a score of 60-51. Our kids played hard and had great execution down the stretch. We lost to South Grand Prairie by a score of 40-42 in the Area Round. We did a great job on defense and coming back from an earlier deficit,” Coach Nelson said

The girls basketball team did amazing this season. They all tried their best and put as much effort in as possible.

“Overall, all 5 teams had a great season. Each player improved individually but most importantly, we grew closer together as a team. We are looking forward to next season!” Coach Nelson said.

Coach Nelson feels that her teams did very well this school year. The only thing that she would like to improve on would be finishing in transition and increasing the shooting percentage.

“Before games we get pumped up and listen to music and mess around a little bit,” senior Jessie Larson said.

“I feel that this season everybody did their best. People make mistakes and thats just apart of the game but everyone definitely puts forth their full effort,” Jessie said.

This is Jessie’s last year at Flower Mound High School, and she loved the way that she finished it.

“I’ve enjoyed basketball so much this year, it was an amazing way to finish my senior year. I’ve found out who my true friends are,” Jessie said.
