From biting a brother’s finger to Miley Cyrus wrecking a cement room, it’s safe to say that YouTube videos come from all different angles and have shaped the teenage mind into what it is today.

“I feel that YouTube videos are a global movement that have inspired teenagers and people all over the world,” sophomore Madison Doyle said. “Everyone can be connected and learn new things.”

The world is ever-changing, and so is YouTube. Since its creation in 2005, more than 120 million videos have been uploaded to the website. Out of all the videos, there are a few favorites among the 3,400 students at FMHS.

“My favorite video is the ‘Wrecking Ball’ music video,” junior Scott Wilke said. “It’s rebellious, and I like to destroy things, so I can relate to it really well.”

“Wrecking Ball” is a song released by Miley Cyrus a couple of months ago. It was then made into a music video, raising controversy among children and parents alike due to the “risque” clothes and actions present in the video.

Another favorite of students at FMHS is the “How Animals Eat Their Food” video. The video features two men sitting on a cardboard table when one shows the other how animals eat their food. He demonstrates wildly how animals, including cows, flamingos, alligators, lizards, and sophomore Dylan Goerlich’s favorite, rhinoceroses, eat their food.

“He jams his head into the boxes like a rhinoceros,” Dylan said. “ The impersonations are just golden, and for some reason it reminds me of the safari at Disney World.”

Videos about wrecking balls and people impersonating animals aren’t the only things circling around the internet and teenage sphere. The newest video of the year that has people raving is “Lilly’s Disneyland Surprise… Again!”

The video has reached approximately 5,000,000 views since it was posted to YouTube in September of 2013. “Lilly’s Disneyland Surprise… Again!” is a chart-topper about Lilly and her younger sister, Chloe, getting to go to Disneyland for the second time. The video may sound plain and boring, but the expressions on the girls’ faces when they discover they’re going to Disneyland are priceless. Lilly’s expression is one of pure excitement, whereas Chloe’s face is dumbfounded and confused.

“Lilly overreacts like crazy, and Chloe’s facial expression is priceless. It makes me laugh everytime,” sophomore Mikaela Bolton said. “I would rate it about a 6 on a 1-10 scale. The video is hilarious, but it can get old if you watch it too many times.”

The last, but definitely not least, video that Flower Mound teens have been talking about is the video “Jenna Marbles: What Girls Lie About.”

“I found the video by scrolling through the ‘popular’ pages on YouTube. I came across her video and watched it, and related to it so well,” sophomore Rachel Westmoreland said.

The video is of “YouTube guru” Jenna Marbles ranting about common lies that girls tell. Whether true or not, some girls can relate to the statements made.

“My favorite part of the video is when Jenna is talking on the phone and says that she’ll ‘be there in five minutes,’ when in actuality she just got out of bed,” Rachel said. “I like the video because it’s honestly the truth when it comes to what girls lie about, and I laugh at it every time.”

Whether you’re looking for a laugh or just scrolling through the popular pages, YouTube is there for all of your video needs.
