Winter Weather Hits Flower Mound Area
February 27, 2014
Lately, the Flower Mound area has been hit with terrible weather this winter season. It seems almost every morning that the temperatures are below freezing and hardly warm up that much throughout the day. Some people are just fine with this kind of weather, while other people don’t seem to care for it.
“I think the weather is dreary and I’m ready for summer to begin,” resident Suzanne Williams said.
Due to the icy road conditions, there have been a number of accidents. This has made a number of drivers aware to be very careful and cautious on the icy roads. Keith Williams, also a resident in the Flower Mound area, felt the rough driving conditions.
“It’s more difficult to drive do to incompetent drivers,” Mr. Williams said.
The weather this season has been brutal enough to actually shut down Flower Mound High School for a couple of days this past year. Due to icy roads and a couple of bad snow days, this winter season we have gotten two and half days out of school due to inclement weather.
“I think it’s a waste of a day we don’t learn anything,” junior Michael Bravenec said.
School closures due to wintry weather are something Texas doesn’t experience all that much.
“I think the most days I got out of school was like a week in Middle school,” Michael said.
So lately Flower Mound has not been too badly affected by the cold weather, think of the past years, we have actually had some really brutal winters.
“I have lived in Texas thirty-five years and this not the worst weather I have seen in this area.” said Mrs.Williams.
Other people though, think this is the worst weather that we have seen in Flower Mound.
“Yes in Flower Mound earlier this year was the worst I’ve seen in the Flower Mound area,” Michael said.
So it depends on who you ask and what age they are because probably, older people have experienced this similar type of weather before. Compared to someone who is in their earlier to late teenage years who have probably never experienced this type of dramatic weather in their lifetime before. Among the many comments swirling around, one interesting point was made.
“We should not be subject to this type of cold weather since we already have brutally hot summers,” Mr. Williams said
Although, this is not the worst weather in the United States right now. On the Northeastern seaboard, they seem to have a winter snowstorm practically every day. It’s pretty clear, everybody wants this dreary winter to turn to a lively spring and for spring to turn into a warm summer. Hopefully, Seventy-two degree weather days are to be ahead.
