An Academically Productive Quarantine

Quarantine has made our everyday lives in very subjective situations. Although the seniors had some of their last years in highschool taken away, the juniors are idly stuck in their homes with an unsettled future. It may be difficult to stay positive during hardship and feel even more stressed as the quarantine hinders academic futures. However, all hope is not lost because colleges and universities are accommodating to the pandemic situation by extending due dates and using virtual sources. Colleges have even taken a step further by providing highschoolers with virtual college tours. By focusing on positive aspects, students can utilize their time to their advantage to secure a promising future. For these reasons, there are plentiful supportive tips to be academically productive during the quarantine.
In order to be productive, it is crucial for students to foster effective time management. Therefore, the first tip is to have a consistent routine every day. Sketch out on paper a schedule that allows you to use your time productively and keeps you accountable for your work. However, even if the schedule is planned flawlessly, without consistency, it will not be effective. Consistency creates a routine that transforms into an academically beneficial lifestyle. The second tip is to take advantage of the situation. Since hospitals, health care works, the medical fields, food banks are all in need of resources, use this time to write letters, create facemasks, donate food, which are all much needed humanitarian aid. These acts of service will create positivity in the impacted lives, and also look productive to college administrations, killing two birds with one stone. Of course, the main motivation behind these actions is to genuinely support those who need it the most, but it doesn’t hurt to add it to your resume, showing colleges that during times of trouble, you stayed productive and positively impacted your community. The last, nevertheless the most important, is to stay positive. Even if you plan multiple schedules, and help out the communities to the best of your abilities, you won’t enjoy it if your attitude and mindset are in the wrong place. Enjoy the ride and keep your head up because, in the end, hard work pays off.
