Ways to Help Your Community during Quarantine

As citizens of our community, we can partake in the smallest ways to make a large difference during times of trouble. Although there is a limited extent to which we can help, anything a community does together provides a sense of unity and positivity that can become a strength for those who need it the most. Especially when everybody is quarantined (regardless of background or color), all should work together to alleviate any burden the pandemic may bring.
In order to shed light on your communities, here are some simple methods you could utilize. First, providing help for local frontline health workers and first responders is important because they are sacrificing their lives in the fight while we are in our homes. Delivering food to hospitals, supplying DIY masks, and sending letters of encouragement to local hospitals can brighten their day. These are only a few methods to help, but with the time we have, we can get creative and productive to help fight the pandemic in our homes as well. Second, use the time you have to practice virtual social engagement. Since our daily lives have become more slow-paced, we now have time on our hands to check up on our relatives and friends and reconnect. This virtual social engagement allows for at least room for some type of social activity so that we aren’t suffocated in our homes. Third, help the localities. The Coronavirus hit local places such as food banks, animal shelters, and blood drives. Since there are shortages in crucial places, it is crucial that we donate food, blood (if eligible), or space to foster a homeless pet. The last method is the most practical which is to be kind. These times are dark for everyone across the world; therefore, nobody is alone. The least we can do, if not any of the methods listed before, is just spreading kindness to whomever you meet at the grocery store, on a walk, or maybe waving hello to your neighbors. The smallest acts of kindness can lead to the greatest impacts and that is just what we need during this pandemic.
