Caught in the dwindling days of their youth at Harvard, two boys, Charley and Jack, are expecting visits from the women they wish to propose to. They are also waiting for the glorious Donna Lucia (Katelyn Holland/Bailey McMahon), Charley’s very rich aunt. The FMHS Dramatic Paws have truly brought the story to life, creating a lively and enjoyable environment.
The play tells the story of Charley Wykeham (Jake Emmett), a student at Harvard, meeting his wealthy aunt for the first time, even though she has been supporting him since his parents died. Charley plans to propose to the love of his life while his aunt is in town. Amy and her friend, Kitty, arrive before Donna Lucia arrives. Desperate to propose, Charley has one of his friends, Fancourt Babberly (Austin Roa), pose as his aunt. But things become tricky when the real Donna Lucia shows up. The little scam becomes a lot more complicated due to men proposing left and right.
From the moment the actors hit the stage, the audience was thoroughly entertained and humored. The play was full of laughs, drama, and the always pleasing element of surprising plot twists. The way the performers were able to keep the audience captivated was truly remarkable. The costumes and set brought the feel and humor of the boys life at Harvard to a whole new level; it was like those moments when you want so badly only to reach through the screen and become a part of the phenomenon.
Beautifully directed by Mr. Scott Taylor, this work of art was an outstanding way to start of the new season. The Jags wish the best for the entire theatre department and their future shows. Great job, Paws!
