A total of 33 students earned a position in the UIL Regional orchestras at the UIL Region 24 Orchestra auditions on Saturday, October 13th.
Twenty of the students made the Symphony Orchestra, a traditionally large classical orchestra which includes wind, string, brass, and percussion instruments, while the remaining 13 students became a part of the Philharmonic Orchestra, an ensemble containing string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
Students who were selected will move on to the All-State judging by the Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) on November 10th and 11th.
The musicians chosen for All-State will participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention.
The TMEA All-State ensembles will then perform the pieces taught by the conductors at the end of the clinic/convention on February 13 to February 16.
