For as long as she can remember, Emma Jones has loved art and the impact it has made on her life. Due to her passion for creation, as well as many influences in her life, she has decided to pursue art for the rest of her life.

“I’ve loved art since I was a child. I drew everything around me,” Jones said. “I liked to put a bunch of mediums together like chalk, pencils, crayons, and paint.”

Her decision to pursue art as a career was heavily inspired by one of her art teachers, Ms. Kucuk.

“She encouraged me to grow and develop as an artist and to push myself in different ways,” Jones said. “It was the first time I felt inspired to do art professionally.”

Her hard work and dedication to art paid off in freshman year when she was selected for a prestigious event.

“My biggest art accomplishment was being selected to participate in the National Congressional Art Competition in 9th grade out of just a handful of students,” Jones said.

Jones picked up her incredible attention to detail fairly early on. Growing up, she would draw detailed scenes and different situations.

“I’d draw restaurants and the people and what they were doing with whatever I had — on the backs on menus and with crayons,” Jones said.

Now, Jones is taking her art to the next level by considering art school as her higher education.

“I would like to attend an art school to help perfect my technique and help me grow as an artist and a student. Because I want to do art professionally, an art school is just the perfect fit,” Jones said.

Overall, Jones’ passion for art and dedication for creating beautiful pieces has proved stellar throughout her high school career, and will continue to shine in the future.

“I sold my first piece in 9th grade and it made me realize that I want to do that for the rest of my life,” Jones said.
