Young Writer

Savannah Johnson has been writing since she was in elementary school. Her love of writing started back in fourth grade when she had to complete a project.

“I started writing in fourth grade for a school project about video games and my teacher said I did well, so I just kept doing it,” Savannah said.

Savannah enjoys writing fantasy stories and has an eleven chapter book that she’s been working on since last year.
“[I like] the ability to create situations with things that don’t exist,” Savannah said.

Savannah writes so much — even at school and during class.

“It has definitely interfered with school. When I write, I just don’t do homework,” Savannah said.

Just like most writers, Savannah deals with the struggles of a writer in progress as well.

“I don’t like writers block. It’s like you want to write something, but you don’t know how to word it. There are certain rules in writing you have to follow to not bore the reader, such as you can’t include too much dialogue, but I really like dialogue. Also, making a subplot is really hard, but helpful to the story,” Savannah said.

Even though Savannah’s ditched several ideas for stories, she has a special dedication to writing in general.

“I want to publish [my book] one day. I like making people and fake stories. I can’t imagine not writing,” Savannah said.
