Christine Bolitho (right), Valme Alvarez and Adam Morrison each pose for a photo, excited to start teaching at Flower Mound. They all came from different backgrounds, but were ready to educate. “I guess you could say it’s my dream to come work in Lewisville because its such a good district,” Bolitho said.

Rosettes: Making the Team

The Flower Mound Rosettes have held their annual tryouts for the 2013-2014 season.
“This is my second year to make Rosettes,” freshman Sydney Rienacher said. “There was a surprisingly low amount of new girls this year.”

This year, twelve seniors have left, and new girls were added to the team. This should be, without a doubt, another fabulous season for the Flower Mound Rosettes.

During tryouts, the Rosettes are given one week to learn all of the necessary things for that year’s tryouts. Rosettes must undergo a process called “mock tryouts.” Mock tryouts are very are similar to the real process of tryouts.

“Mock tryouts are probably the scariest part of the whole tryout process,” freshman Courtney Mason said. “But it’s really what matters in the long run, and I’m proud of everyone that even tried out.”
Rosette candidates are excepted to treat mock tryouts as real tryouts.

Around a hundred Rosette candidates try out, permitting the tryouts to continue past midnight. Rosettes found out their tryout results on a large poster board outside the gym. The results were also posted online. If the Rosettes, they are supposed to return back to the gym for the pictures and meetings. If the candidate did not make it, they are asked to return home.

If a Rosette finds out she’s made the team, tradition holds that she goes to the gym for pictures, and then attends IHOP for a celebration meal. The results have to qualify with a score of at least 80 out of 100 to make the team.
The classic cowgirl boots and beautifully embroidered satin uniform is highly anticipated for another season. Congratulations to all of the Rosettes that made it.
