They all came from different backgrounds, but were ready to educate. “I guess you could say it’s my dream to come work in Lewisville because its such a good district,” Bolitho said.

The FMHS swim and dive team ended the 2013 season with a new record of wins and hopes for the year to come.

Seniors are switching gears to college planning, while the lower classmen look forward to taking on leadership positions for the upcoming year. It may seem like the start to a new chapter to their lives, but the memories will never leave the team.

“The travel trips are by far my favorite part of being on the swim team,” senior McKinley Clark said.

This past November, the FMHS swimmers and divers traveled to College Station. They participated in the Aggieland High School Invitational along with thirty-one other Texas high schools.

“My best memory was going to A&M on a travel trip when the Aggies swim team was competing against Alabama and won,” Clark said. “Everyone at the tournament was watching in between our events and we all went crazy. It was such a fun and exciting atmosphere.”

Flower Mound finished the tournament in 18th place. Clark and the other 86 swim and divers speak for each other when they say the A&M tournament is the event they look forward to every year.

“The factors that make these tournaments so special are my teammates and their support,” senior Ashley Evans said.

Evans and several other seniors give their teammates credit for their four years of success. The countless hours of before-school practice and long bus rides to meets gave them the time to get to know each other.

“I have learned so much from the team about commitment and dedication,” Evans said. “I cannot imagine spending my high school years with any other group of people.”

The endless amount of time spent together payed off when both the girls and boys finished second in the 200 yard medley relay for the 2013 District 5A Championships. Senior Michael Regan brought home a first place medal for the 200 yard freestyle, followed by Connor Young in second.

“I do not think we would have achieved so much this year without the coaches,” Clark said. “They have taught me so much about swimming and sportsmanship in general. I feel like a better swimmer, and a better person, because of them.”

The seniors are moving on to new activities and experiences. Some plan to continue swimming at the collegiate level where they hope to see support from their old Flower Mound teammates in the future.
