Prom is right around the corner on April 27. Most juniors and seniors, and a few lucky lower classmen, are anticipating a night worth dressing up for at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
For most high school students prom is more than a school dance and a dress. It is a rite of passage.
“The most important part of prom is creating unforgettable memories with long-time friends,” senior Shelby Wilson said. “We celebrate our high school experiences one last time together before we all go our separate ways.”
Last year’s prom décor theme was “Indian.” The venue was draped with bright silky material and an array of lights. This year, the prom committee is taking on a more sophisticated approach.
“Our theme is ‘Skyfall’,” senior Annalise Bush said. “I think it signifies class and living a luxurious lifestyle. When you think of 007, he is always going to some suit and tie gala.”
Bond himself might approve of this year’s location: Jerry World. This is the first year a Flower Mound High School prom has been held at such an iconic site.
“I think it will be a fun place to have prom,” senior Anthony Knuff said. “It’s definitely something to look forward to, seeing as it’s at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. The place should be really nice and have the makings for a great night.”
Although the venue is set, the remainder of prom planning can be a daunting task. Both guys and girls have been preparing for this date months ahead of time. But what really goes into all the planning?
“You have to find an amazing dress, how you’re going to accessorize, and do your hair,” senior Sarah Ibrahim said. “Then, you have to figure out who you are going with, discuss where you are going to eat and take pictures, and find a method of transportation.”
As the excitement is building, the date is getting closer and closer. This will be an excellent farewell to the graduating seniors and a look into the future for the juniors.
