Bioshock: Infinite, the third installment in the Bioshock series, is a first-person shooter game that has not yet been corrupted by cliché story lines and characters.
Following the tale of Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton detective, the gamer falls into what seems to be another reality of breathtaking graphics and details.
“The first cut scenes of the game were stunning and beautifully detailed,” Sophomore Tiger Hersh said “When you open the doors and you see the flying town you’re just so amazed at how detailed it is.”
The game is set in 1912, in the floating city of Columbia. The gamer is sent on a desperate mission to retrieve a young woman named Elizabeth who has been held captive and studied secretly for most of her life.
“The story line was intriguing and beautifully mastered, showing the faults in humanity, government and religion.” Says junior Alex Pinneaux.
Bioshock: Infinite provides what Bioshock 2 couldn’t: glamorous artwork, breathingtaking play through and engaging battles.
When fighting through waves of enemies, the game grants you ‘vigors,’ special drinks that give you special powers to control water, air, fire, and more. Unlocking new vigors gives you more power over gameplay, making it easier, yet still entertaining to fight through boss waves and other assorted enemies.
“The guns given to work with weren’t too overpowering,”Hersh said “giving you the option to use vigors for extra damage; it’s entertaining to mix and match vigors and using them against enemies.”
Playing as Booker DeWitt the player unlocks many secretes, uncovering DeWitt and Elizabeth’s past. With Elizabeth by DeWitt’s side the player is heavily armed with vigors and assorted weapons, always being replenished by Elizabeth during heated battles.
“Games aren’t usually very original when it comes to rescuing girls; you always have to worry about them getting killed during battles.”Hersh said “But Elizabeth takes care of herself, giving you free reign.”
With hours of entertaining gameplay the gamer is launched into an alternate universe he or she just don’t want to leave. Every chapter brings different twists and turns, enemies, and special powers. Unlocking bonus material and side missions the game leads the player into the stunning and secrete world of Columbia.
With a breathtaking ending, Bioshock: Infinite is burned into the players’ mind as a beautifully created game. Bioshock: Infinite holds over 65 awards in the gaming community, including: Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best PC game, and Best Action/Adventure Game.
